Message from the Incoming President

I feel both honored and excited to be the incoming President for the Friends. Continuing what Steve Babbitt (and Diana), along with a whole bunch of people, paul_imgstarted in the early 1990's...doing what's right for Lynn Woods.

I really didn't get to know the Woods until just a few years ago, having volunteered with the GE Elfuns to do some cleanup and trail repair. This has led to recently leading teams to remove the last few stolen cars, and designing new trails and leading teams to build them and close the old trails. I also started walking in the Woods at lunch, and that has turned into running after work. I'm now looking forward to Bill Mullen's Wednesday night runs during the summer.

Along the way I came to know Ranger Dan Small. Lynn and Lynn Woods is truly blessed to have a ranger as intelligent and caring as Dan. I look forward to working with him for a long time to come.

I'd like to thank Mark McInerney (and Donna) as he moves on to help the Friends as lead for the Rose Garden. Mark’s talent and passion for that will be a good mix.

My ideas for the Friends? Hopefully, to use my talents to guide an awesome group of people, the volunteers on the Board of Directors, into the future. To listen and help them do the right thing—do the right thing for Lynn Woods. To work with the City, the LWSC, and the DPW to help improve the Woods. But I think most of all, to help people enjoy the Woods—truly our treasure.

Please feel free to contact me or any of the Board members. No idea or offer of help will be turned away. Stay active with the Friends and help get others involved. Watch for a new membership drive soon, and help recruit a few “Friends.”

Warm Regards,

Paul Gouthro
